A live-action and VFX product film bringing Addverb's Trakr robot dog into a cinematic real-world environment.
For technology hardware, showing the real product can be just as important as explaining its technology. Hyve therefore took a hybrid approach for this Trakr film. Rather than creating the entire experience digitally, live-action production established the physical presence of the robot and the environment around it.
Visual effects were then used to enhance the environment and create a more cinematic presentation. This approach provided the best of both worlds: Live action created physical credibility. VFX created creative freedom. The production could therefore remain grounded in the real product while introducing visual elements that would have been difficult or impractical to achieve through a conventional shoot.
The resulting film positioned Trakr as a sophisticated commercial robotics product rather than simply a technical prototype. It demonstrates a production approach particularly useful for robotics, industrial hardware and deep-tech companies that need to combine real product footage with digitally created environments and effects.
